Harvard women and Princeton men both won their regional NCAA cross country championships this morning, and advance to the nationals as teams next week.

Harvard field hockey plays this afternoon against Louisville in the NCAA first round.

Princeton is the first of the women’s soccer teams to play in the NCAAs, tonight against Vermont. Brown tomorrow, Harvard Sunday.

The cross country part is impressive. Has an Ivy team ever won a regional before?

Oops — misread the NE results — Harvard men also finish second and go to the cross country nationals.

I believe Ivies have indeed won regionals before, it’s unusual for us to not have at least one representative in each final. We had four men’s teams in 2013…..

Finished 27th in NCAAs, ahead of only other Ivies, Cornell and Harvard.

From the Dartmouth XC website: "The 1986 and 1987 squads each finished second at the NCAA meet, the best results ever for an Ivy League team."

Those were the men's teams coached by Vin Lananna, who went on to coach Oregon and now Virginia.

Harvard field hockey upsets #6 Louisville in OT.

Princeton women’s soccer dominated Vermont 2-0, their sixth consecutive shutout. Next up: Brown and St. John’s tomorrow afternoon.
