I'd say that Smith just played better than White? It happens. The Dartmouth QB depth chart didn't correspond to touted offers either.

And it's not like Princeton was hurting at QB. They led the league in scoring offense and were second in passing offense (Brown).

A word on Cole Smith. Smith unflashily gutted his way through the season. He had some rough patches for sure, with picks and sacks accumulating in some key games. But I think he earned the staff’s confidence when he threw a pick 6 with 3 minutes left against Monmouth tying the score, called the offense together on the sideline, and then led them to the winning FG. Yesterday, against a tough Penn run defense, he led the team in rushing even with the one sackabd was more than adequate as a passer. He led us to a 9-1 season and a title. When you look at the line of QBs Surace has brought in, Smith is a worthy addition And it makes me guardedly hopeful for next year when, for the third season in a row, we will have a new QB. Our most experienced passer is 5-9. More on this later, but the way we used Vangerelli exclusively as a goal line RB I wonder if we will see more 2 QB sets next season.
