Yale women’s home Bball game today “postponed” by COVID.

Get your booster, and your flu shot while you’re there.

don't get me wrong I got mine but fully vaxxed boostered people are getting Covid. However most if not all cases are mild. Which is a good thing but a positive is a positive and when it comes to getting 4th I will but another mutated variant will appear, and we will still be on the covid hamster wheel. At some point we will have to just go on with our lives. There were never shutdowns due to flu. I am just glad I own PFE and MRK bc the US gov't is pouring money into them by buying vax after vax and soon pill after pill

COVID-19 keeps mutating. This could be the 21 century version of the Flu. Perhaps every winter COVID shots will be available with the yearly Flu shot.

Per the NY Times stats, being fully vaccinated (not necessarily boosted) reduces an individual’s chances of hospitalization by 80%, and chances of dying from COVID by 93%. Those numbers have held steady for months, even as Delta became more dominant. Good enough for me.

Wow. I wonder what the domino effects will be.

The article says that "all activities and athletics are cancelled." I assume this means that, if other Ivies do not follow suit, Cornell will forfeit all Ivy contests this winter season until the campus reopens.

Here we go again.

If it was up to University President Martha Pollock Cornell would field no athletic teams at all. She keeps incompetent coaches around and likes the athletic director because he enforces her ridiculous policies. Under her watch any pretense to not compete In intercollegiate athletic is a win for her.

What does your comment have to do with this thread or to the reality of Cornell University attempting to best respond to an international health crisis, now having overwhelmed its campus?

I assume this means that the campus is closed until the semester ends, at which point, numbers should go down, if only by virtue of the fact that everyone will leave campus.

Big Red supporters may feel differently, given their gripes with the current admin in place, but I have a hard time believing Cornell would cancel another winter season, especially as other schools continue to play on. On the Cornell COVID dashboard - https://covid.cornell.edu/testing/dashboard/ - it's explained that during code red, "Cornell-sponsored events, student activities and other gatherings may be further limited or moved fully online." Additionally, "travel for Cornell-related business, study or research is permitted." So I would expect/hope that teams will start playing again after this weekend/finals, albeit with no fans for home games until order is restored.

Not only do they have a hockey team to go with their 77,000 students, it is a very good hockey team. ASU is finishing construction on a beautiful new on-campus 5,000 seat hockey rink. Half of those 77,000 students are young women. Hockey players from Flin Flon or Edmonton are reported to be fond of young women in warm climates. Last year, ASU played a schedule replete with Big Ten Teams and the rumor is that ASU is trying to join the BIG hockey league. Sun Devil Hockey--who knew??

The Arizona State men's hockey team has competed at the NCAA Division I level for five years. I might be wrong, but I am guessing that, prior to ASU moving from outside the NCAA structure, Princeton was the Southern-most D-I team.

Alabama Huntsville had a D1 hockey team for a long time; not sure if they still do.
