Chason at 6’4” is about 6 or 7 inches taller than his older brother at Princeton, A.J., Jr. and described as at least as quick. Don’t know all of Chason’s accolades; he looks like a very solid WR get. AJ was first team All-State and size-wise seems like a Jacob Birmilen type.

Having played and coached at Brown, becoming OC at P when the program was down and heading further south and being part of a quick turnaround there, getting HC experience, if he has Administration support and Admissions cooperation, I expect a steady rise in Brown’s fortunes. We will see in the next few years if I am right snd how far that goes. Some of the current League “powers” are not going to readily step aside.

A Brown turnaround will hinge on developing a league-competetive defense.

Offense and scoring will not be a problem under James Perry ... even with EJ gone.
But they have to get off the field on 3rd down, and stop the other team from scoring at will.

The talent defecit between the Bears and all other teams is size and speed on D.

No push up front -- Princeton and Harvard QBs could knit a sweater and still have time to complete 90% their passes.

If there is no pressure on the QB, it exposes the back-end to the receivers that are taller and faster than the CBs and Safeties.

Coach Perry is very aware of this deficit, and has challenged the recruiting coaches to find impact talent on defense.

No DC, no defensive play calling, nor defensive scheme can be succesful against the high powered IL offenses without defensive playmakers.

Agreed. Will be interesting to see the final list, he does need strong recruiting classes, including players who can make obvious improvement on defense.

I have seen A.J. play a couple of times. Your description of him as in the mold of Jacob Birmelin is apt. I think A.J. has every chance of being a solid Ivy player, but would be surprised if he could deliver at the level of Birmelin.
