Yes, the double elimination formula is a bit confusing, but if I understand it correctly, the winner of today's elimination game between Harvard and Yale, still has to defeat Columbia twice to win the Ivy League Tournament. Both starting pitchers were outstanding in last night's contest between Harvard and Columbia. but Columbia was able to win the game against Harvard's relief pitcher on some very clutch hitting and smart base running.

Sounds odd to me. I had assumed that the winner of whoever Columbia plays in game 2 today is the outright winner and that Columbia, should it lose, would get a second crack at it. I think that double elimination only means that no team is disqualified until it loses twice. So Penn is out and whoever wins game one moves on while the loser is out.

Meant to say that Columbia would NOT get a second crack at the championship if it loses the 4 PM game.

Columbia needs to take one of two from Crimson.

"Cinderella Stays Alive" blurts out the game announcer as Harvard comes from behind once again to defeat Yale 8-6 to play Columbia in the Championship Round of the 2025 Ivy League Tournament. Credit Harvard Coach Bill Decker for pulling the right strings in a mistake filled game where both teams had trouble playing defense. As joiseyfan correctly stated, Harvard "..must indeed beat Lions TWICE to win" the 2025 Ivy League Baseball Tournament."

So a 9-12 H team (over a 21 game season) knocks a 16-5 Y team, seven games ahead of the below . 500 Crimson, out of a shot at the NCAAs. Columbia and Y shoukd have played off for the NCAA bid. Rant concluded.

bats were silent for first two games but came alive-7 HRs. Note on starting pitching—Our starter was great for 4/5 innings but ran out of gas; smart move to go to the bullpen instead of pushim for another inning.

Yes, it was a timely move to go to the bullpen at that point. Have you noticed the improvement in the pitching staff during the last month. Santana had a great game against Harvard and the entire bullpen has improved remarkably. With the improved pitching, we are poised to make some noise in the NCAA regionals.
