In terms of news coverage a lot depends on the sports information departments relationship with the various newspapers and radio/TV stations in their area. I have talked to a number of members of the media and just like anything else, they're more likely to print an article or put it on the 6:00 pm news if they have timely information. But, on the other hand, you did start a thread about women's lacrosse poll rankings, just as I said. My point is "What's the harm in letting Columbia fans enjoy their success in baseball?" I agree with you that they are prone to overreaction when the Lions win a game, let alone a championship. But who can begrudge them their enthusiasm? Columbia fans are excited precisely because they have not had much to celebrate over they years. I give them credit for wandering the desert for years, but still thinking that the next season might bring rain. By the way, I'll bet that, over the past two or three years, Columbia has won more Ivy titles than Penn. Don't criticize Lion fans too much for their manic self-congratulations.
