As I see it, there are many people who from their own experience KNOW that somebody or something has helped them when they were in trouble and no other help was available. This happens all over the globe and irrespective of what belief system, if any, the persons concerned belong to, or not belong to.
..... But there are also many people who have not had such an experience, and for them there is no God (or whatever other name). These are the Atheists.
..... The various many belief systems, with their many versions, came about as attempts to "explain" and also as attempts to bribe deities(?) to provide, for example, better weather for food to grow, etc. Then there are also apparently many who are in this "beliefs game" for getting the money of gullible people, and/or for getting "credits" that they think they can cash in after they are dead for having "saved souls". Fiction is NOT a modern invention, and lots of "sales literature" is available.
