I'm not a typiest so I'm doing this with great difficulty- so bear with me. There are many reasons why I believe christianity is one big hoax that would require a book to contain. First, I was married to a religious fanatic for over 40 years that was brought up in the "assembly of god" church. Believe me when I say, if you are brought up in a certain religious denomination, you will most likely stick with it all or at least the greater part of your life, [ unless someone convinces you other wise]. To my wifes understanding, [worldly pleasures i.e., anything that makes you feel good or happy] must surely be sinful. All through the bible you are told you must suffer to be saintly. My hobby is studying religious history and reading any related material on the subject which you must put yourself back in time to 2 or 3000 years and try to think like they did. You must remember that the only people educated at that time were the rulers and all their subjects and the religious leaders. Since there were no radios or tv, news traveled very slowly, either by foot or donkey and since most of the people were illiterate, they loved to hear stories, [parables] and riddles. They were always in constant fear of doing something wrong that would upset their masters, [after all most of them were slaves and owned by someone], all this with gods blessings]. I recomend you read the bible, especially the old testement. The book would carry an "R" rating in todays world. There is more foul play, lying, incest, murder and bloodshead in the bible than any book I can think of.[most of it with the lords blessing. Do you know the difference between a regular war and a holy war santioned by god? After a regular war was won, it was expected that the winners would carry off all the loot including the cattle, sheep, goats, household goods and the women for themselves [spoils of war]---But! in a holy war, nothing was to be left alive including the animals. Don't take my word on this, look it up for yourself! Sorry I got off the main reasons for trying to answer your question, but you only have to read genesis to realize the thing is one big fairy tale. There had to be a beginning to explain how every thing got to be like it is, so they wrapped it all up in a couple of chapters, after all, if you have enough faith and don't question any of the bible you don't have to tax your mind. Think for a minute, doesn't it seem rather silly for a god that can do anything he desires, create a planet like this, populate it with humans, animals, bugs--then spend thousands of years trying to straighten it out. When you go to a museum and look at the fossils millions of years old, it's kind of hard to believe the earth is only 6,000 yrs. old. If you want to enlighten yourself, get a copy of; "Jesus and the Riddle of the Dead Sea Scrolls" by Barbara Thiering. In her book, she explains how there was a jesus born in the normal way to a family in the priesthood and explains the so called miracles----also a book titled "Deceptions and Myths of the Bible" by Lloyd M. Graham. I am convinced that these well known authors, especially Barbara Thiering, who has devoted the better part of her life studying bibical history are right. How much do you think those tv evangelist really know for sure. We will always have stage performers such as them preaching the gospel[what ever that is] They are really showmen with a captive audiance that love to hear good clean jokes. Hope this has helped--let me hear from you, coolie
