Just happen to be nosing around the "Hall" at about 12:30 Friday while my daughter was registering and happen to see the football staff together in the hospitality room obviously X-ing and O-ing. I think the best bet is to get an up and coming D-coordinator who plans to stay a while instead of some of these other guys who have come to Macomb to mark time until they can return to the D1A level. In other words, someone who understands that his future success has everything to do with WIU's future success.

Alot of excitement again for softball although if the Winds #2 pitcher had been healthy I think they would have been in the NCAA's without a doubt. I am pretty sure that they have an new assistant who will be able to compliment and help Holly! The women's soccer job evidently comes with a teaching position but I can confirm Mole's info that says three candidates will be interviewed very soon.

Bids are out for the baseball stadium and it should really be nice when it is completed. As soon as the baseball camp is over the bleachers and other structures will be removed leaving the infield and dugouts. A semi-circular wall similar to Wrigley field will join the dugouts together with 459 shaded and accessible permanent backed seats along with a medium sized pressbox. Guess they still need money for the outfield fence replacement and rumor has it that a new scoreboard is definitely in the works to be sponsored by a beverage company in Macomb. A club house on the 3rd base side is also in the future. Hyman has done a great job in just four years and will continue to move the Necks in the right direction. Now if we can only get the govenor to release the design funds for the Performing Arts Center we can get on with the refurbishing of Hanson. The seats are looking really tacky, of course paint chips constantly fall from the concrete surface. The north entrance still is a touch of class.

Didn't really see any baskeball players at the "Hall" but did see a noon time pickup game in which Coach Thomas lead a number of fastbreaks. Also ran into Coach Crane who is an absolute "lady!" She really feels like this group of recruits is coming in at a much higher level than the Castans, Tyo, Zelinski, Corneilus group and really feels that the success of the program has raised the recruited talent level each year.

PS The university looks great, the registration activities although long were informative and well done. I can't believe the facilities which are now available such as the rec center, eating centers (Thompson! Wow!!) and I still can't get over the fact that there is a computer store inside of Morgan Hall. The area between the Union and the Rec Center is now called the "mall" and it is filled with trees and flowers. I just can't get over how much has changed since 1971 but 34 years is a long time. The one thing that has not changed is the summer heat. I know it can be hot in Wheaton, but boy, with the humidity etc. it feels really close and hot in Macomb.

Jim, is that you? If so, sorry I missed you in Macomb. When I saw Wheaton, I thought maybe I knew you. We have met before!
