I do not care what your team is doing for ONE year. I will take tradition over ONE decent season.

And do not try top dispute the tradition statement, it is fact!!!

Might as well make that two 10-1 seasons. That's what I call the start of a tradition! What was your teams record in the first 3 seasons? I guarantee that you were not 26-7.

What is your tradition? How many national titles have you won? I looked back and haven't found any....that's one hell of a tradition.

Tradition does not necessarily mean titles does it?

And WIU does have a long football tradition look it up!

Maybe if CCU actually played some decent schools they might be looking at a far more realistic record.

Bis: I am not baiting anyone. I have stated facts. You can't argue with numbers. They don't lie. You might not like them, but they do not lie.

WIU: Normally a good, or steeped tradition means great players, and sorry I don't consider Rodney Harrison or Brian Cox great, national titles etc. And you have neither.

If we have not played anyone good, then how did we beat the defending national champions? And SC State @ SC State infront of 20,000 of their fans? What top 10 teams have you beaten? At my last count it was ZERO. And to think that I was anticipating a playoff match-up between my alma mater and my brothers...oh well. Maybe next year.

This will be my last comment on this,

How many All American teams were you on?
How many Pro Bowls did you play in?
How many Super Bowls did you go to or win?

Allow me to answer, 0!

I have been to 2 Super Bowls thanks to connections. You? We have not graduated any players yet. We are all underclassmen and are still better then you guys. Now that's sad!!!!

We have had 2 All Americans in our 2 years of existence.

I don't like Hawaii things are too expensive there, so 0 Pro Bowls. We can't have Pro Bowlers if we have no graduated players. I really wish you would do more thorough research before you embarras yourself.

It's a shame that Harrison's career is over. No more dancing when he tackles someone, or picks off a pass. Last time I checked, that is what he got ridiculously overpaid (like every other player) to do. You don't see me celebrate or dance when I complete a task at work.

Brian Cox...hmm are you kidding me? Flicking off the crowd? Class act there.

From CourTv: Bryan Cox, a linebacker with the Chicago Bears football team, alleges that the National Football League singled him out for excessive fines in retaliation for a Title VII claim he filed in 1994. Boo hiss. Ghee I wonder why the NFL would single him out...hmmm I have one word for him PU***.

Fined for spitting, fighting, fined 8 timed by the NFL all told. If he thinks the league is so damn racist, then get the BLEEP out.

Guys, while CCBob might not say it the right way, or with cuth, he is correct. Our team has faltered recently. And I have had the fortune of seeing his team play, as I was in Myrtle Beach for business, and, as the southerners say "dem boyz can play"!! I would not want to run into that team anytime soon. They have a stable of great RB's. 4 that play almost every game I think, plus their QB can run.

I don't know if you guys saw it or not but they have a phenominal reciever as well who made the most ridiculous catch I have ever seen at the game I was at. I believe it was James Madison, and it made the #1 play on SportsCenter Top 10. They are a damn good team, and I for one, as an alum of WIU, am glad they are not on our schedule anytime soon.

ALUM: Thanks for the kind words about our team. Atleast someone here is not completely biased and blinded in their steeped tradition.

Our RB's that you talk about are Jamie Fordham (6'0" 185), Patrick Hall (5'8" 185), Aundres Perkins (6'2" 240), and Arthur Sitton (5'8" 165).

Our WR you speak of is Jerome Simpson (6'3" 185). We also have Chris Noble (6'5" 192) who is great. Believe it or not we have a WR who is 5'5", Darnell Williams who can jump out of a gym (can dunk a basketball on a 10' rim). Tyler (our QB) just tosses jump balls to him and he easily out jumps the DB/SS/CB for the ball...it's just a matter of his scrawny body hanging onto the ball after contact. :)

I wish we played you guys this year, last year, next year, anytime soon. It's a good old brotherly hatred for eachothers team.

Hmmm, Bob & WIUALUM same person?

Bob, I believe WIU ATO was refering to "YOU" not your school. Atleast that is how I interpreted, anyways it seems you avoided the questions.

Any pro bowls for you?
Any super bowls for you?
Any playing time at any level for you period?

Bobby,
So, where is the so-called competition?

2005 Schedule:
Elon - W, 17-10 (mark of a champion)
James Madison - W, 31-27 (good)
Appalachian State - L, 3-30 (good)
Delaware State - W, 24-6 (wow)
South Carolina State (wow)
Gardner-Webb* (huh?)
Liberty* - W-3ot, 27-21 ( huh? darn, they are good)
VMI* (wow)
Savannah State (wow)
Mansfield (PA) (who the F**K?)
Charleston Southern*(another wow)

2004 Schedule:
Morehead State - W, 28-7 (?)
DAVIDSON - W, 31-24 (ok non-scholy win)
Newberry - L, 7-21 (you could not pull off the upset)
NORTH GREENVILLE - W, 58-7 (?)
CHARLESTON (WV) - W, 48-13 (?)
VMI* - W, 21-14
LIBERTY* - W, 33-6
Gardner-Webb* - W, 31-19
SAVANNAH STATE - W, 52-14
JACKSONVILLE - W, 48-23
CHARLESTON SOUTHERN*

Give me an F'N break pal, Any GFC team could go undefeated in schedules like this or atleast 10-1. How the Heck is this CCU team ranked in the polls at all with a cupcake schedule as these. 3 OT's vs. Liberty? Come on, I thought you guys were the best? Close with Elon, and 2004 an "L" vs. NEWBERRY, WHO-BERRY?

Wow I must concede the overall success of my WIU program to your stellar "Adonis-like" CCU. Your record of success against the great programs in college football amazes me, How could I have been so wrong? Maybe next season your guys can pull off the upset against powerhouse NEWBERRY. Good Luck to the Chants or Cleers, whatever you call them.

Bob,

First of all, thanks for providing us all with some interesting commentary. I can't tell you why I enjoy sitting in Hanson Field on a colorful fall day. Guess I grew there! We are Leatherneck fans. We are proud of our alma mater. Just like you are. I am sorry that you spent a day in Macomb and came home unhappy. I am glad you picked Coastal Carolina and I hope you are not only a supporter by mouth, but also by pocketbook as I am. A student of mine attended your alma mater and played softball. Had a great career there and has done well.

I am no longer interested in your constant "your Dad can beat up my Dad" crap. 100+ years of college football is a tradition Bob! Coastal Carolina is doing well and I wish them luck. But 3 years does not scream tradition. How many 1A schools have you played? How many wins do you have against them? What is your largest crowd? Your biggest win? The number of conference championships you have won? The number of players who have gone on to coach, to play in the NFL, to lead successful lives. That sir, is tradition! We have paid you way too much attention! But you have galvanized us, gotten our goat, created some interest! Thanks! Now get lost!

I too am a Coastal Carolina University fan, but I am also an alumni of Western and Ill State. I never missed a game when I taught at WIU.. even got struck by lightning one game in '86 or '87. I think WIU's campus is beautiful, always did.

The comparision of a new feldgling program such as ours, and the older established programs have no bearing. We have a solid team, not great, and we have great support from the community. We have a very good coaching staff, and an administration that will back them.

BTW... congrats on the ISU win. Shocker to say the least.
Take care.. and good luck Leathernecks...

I have no idea who WIUALUM is. He posted, I responded.

Necks: Sorry. No I don't play football anymore. I played 3 sports in high school (baseball, basketball, and football), and got tired of it, so I stopped. And 6 broken ankles didn't help my case either. I was a MLB. 6'3" 220 Ironically enough our high school coach went to or coached at WIU, something like that, and he just quit/resigned after making the IHSA playoffs 5 years in a row and losing in the first round. I will hold off on the obvious remarks there. :-x

ATO: Man if you would do more research you would not embarras yourself. God this is redundant. The 4 conference games (VMI, GWebb, Liberty, and Chuck South)we can't do a lot about. We are in the process of joining a "real" conference the SoCon but they are on the fence about letting us in because of 3 1aa schools in South Carolina already, and the recruitin gjunk etc. Mansfield Pa, they were a fill in game because after last years 10-1 season 3 teams dropped out, so we added James Madison, South Carolina St, and noone else wanted to play us, so we had to get someone, adn well, we scraped the bottom of the barrel. Mansfield, andwhatever conference they are in almost didn't play because theit coaches were close to striking.

I have already said that we did not deserve to make the playoffs with last years 10-1 schedule. We played noone. But also, noone expected us to go 10-1 in our 2nd season of football.

I would hope that a Gateway team could go undefeated in that schedule since they have been around longer then 2+ years.

You not knowing what a Chanticleer is just shows you enver paid attention in your English 101 class in high school or at WIU. It is from Chaucers Canteberry tales.

If you would look at what I wrote, I asked what your record was IN YOUR FIRST 2 YEARS. You do not copmprehend very well.

Neckfan: I would expect nothing less then being proud and supporting your alma mater. If you didn't then there would me a problem. :) I do suport CCU financially every month.

Neck, you sound very intelligent (not sarcasim) but you should know that you need to use, I beleive it is 90% of your 1aa scholarships for 2 years before you are allowed to play a 1a opponent. We are lpaying Penn State in 2007, that is the first year we are eligible to play a 1a team, adn our athletic director, Warren "Moose" Kogel was a player and AD there, so it was a natural fit.

The largest crowd at our stadium was around 9,000, 131% of capacity. largest on the road was around 25,000 at App St or Sc St.

Our biggest win was over the DEFENDING National Champions, and #1 ranked team in the country, James Madison!

We have 1 conference crown in 2 years, and already clinched this years, so 2 conference titles in 3 years of existence. Like I posted earlier, we have had 0 players graduate so it is hard to have a player in the NFL yet.

Our stadium capacity is roughyly 6,408. It is able to, and will expand to 20,000 shortly

Guys, I do not know Bob, and Bob does not know me. I am just trying to be the "voice of reason". loL

I think you guys, heck all of us are not arguing, or discussing the same thing. Bob seems to be talking about our first two years compared to CC's first 2 years.

When you ask about ProBowls SuperBowls etc Bob has none becasue his CC Chanticleers just started 2+ years ago with all underclassmen, thus noone has graduated from the program yet.

I can not imagine the atmosphere there CCBob for a playoff game. That place was "electric" when I was there for the JMU game. Can't imagine the playoffs there.

P.S. Aren't you guys good in soccer and baseball? Like Top 10 in baseball and Top 30 in soccer? With some real good soccer players in the MLS?

Oh Brother. Your WIU JUCO's are shining bright once again.

Your Coach P got some cajones and kicked leading tackler Will Baily off the team. Baily was arrested for Aggravated Battery and Resisting Arrest. Baily was arrested at the Change of Pace for jumping on the face/head of teammate and offensive lineman, Corey Rolling.

Baily was a senior who transferred from San Joaquin Delta College.

He had 75 tackles, 2 ff in 9 games.

Found out about this at 4:45 this morning as I read the Peoria Journal Star sports on line. Nothing like turning the corner only to step in a cow pie. But I have said numerous times and will say it again, a coach is not judged on how they handle the easy things, but on how they handle the tough things. Things like this do happen at all levels. Dealing with them in a fair and straight forward manner is all you can do and I think DP sent a clear message to all about how things like this will be dealt with now and in the future. Time for Travis Cherry to step up and be counted. I threw 3 players off the team on year who were future seniors who stole purses at a Halloween Dance. I guess really I just did not allow them to try out! They went all the way to the Superintendent. They were all pretty good, one would have been all conference. Toughest thing I ever did, best thing I ever did. Maybe we are gaining some momentum for a good future.

It seems to be a problem with the JUCO transfers. Why don't you just stop accepting JUCO players. They seem to not be of the best character. Look at Cincy hoops and all the run-ins/altercations they have. JUCO's = bad news!

Remember, these guys are young and in college. When you throw alcohol into the mix with an altercation, who knows what can happen. Many mistakes are made when you are young and in college these guys are on their own and are responsible for making smart decisions but outside factors/substances can often alter and distort the judgement process.

No excuses, he screwed up and should have been smarter in making sure something like this didn't happen but..... And to throw gas on the fire, it was a fellow football player whom he stomped on.
