I'm also eagerly anticipating the start of the basketball season (since the football season will end uncharacteristically soon). Anyone think Coach Thomas will be Coach of the Year? Anything will be an improvement over 3-25. I'll be happy over .500, then three days in March!

How about last nights game with SIUE. Seems rather close. SIUE is a fairly good D-2 program.Maybe Western experimented with players etc. I know these types of games and scores can be deceiving. Anyone at the game, or heard anything?

Just saw a blurb that Western was down 17 at half. Got outrebounded 40-26.

I was at the game. Rebounding was awful. We had no one to stay with their 6-11 guy. I hope they learned that defensive pressure is the key to fast breaks. When we turned up the heat in the last 7 min. we were able to get out and run which they did very well. SIUE is a very good D-II team with alot of upperclassmen but we still should be able to do alot better than a late win. Until we get alot tougher in the post defensively we better not get bogged down in a half court game. Cepeda should be returning soon so maybe he can help. This team needs to run as much as possible and take better shots. By that I mean the shot selction was very poor at times especially with Oguns. He is a real strong player around the hoop but doesn't seem to want to stay there. All in all a good win and a learning experience for the newcomers. This team is a vast improvement over last year and the crowd really got into it the last 7 min.
