Yes, it is. As someone who has had a relationship with ORU in the past, it is made up of good folks. However, all schools have a group of fans who look through a different set of glasses when it comes to sports. The fact is, ORU is either unwilling- or unable- to field teams in all conference sports. These whiners need to realize this. You want the trophy, field a team!

Ever since we took a trip to Denver last year to a softball recruiting camp I have been interested in the number of scholarships per sport at each level. The full boat for D1 softball is 12 full rides. Of course these are divided up like grandmas cherry pie in large and small chunks depending on how good you are. A quick look at the compiance section in the WIU athletic website will show you that Westerwind softball gets the max 12. I am not really sure what the other max's are but as you go through the list you will notice that most of the women's sports have more scholarships then the men's programs basically because of football which out does them all. WIU has 23.9 scholarships in swimming and 12 in softball. ORU does not participate in these sports. Guess they think swimming and softball is something done at a Sunday picnic! (Just a small joke!) So lets just say we pass out those rides to the other sports and forget about football. Do they honestly think they could compete with us even in that situation???

Some ORU folks are still upset they didn't win the Cup. Some are saying there should be "adjustments" made for lower sports- especially if they don't offer them! Who will decide what sport is less? I feel swimming is as high as mens baseball. You want the all sports trophy- offer the sports and compete! They live in the shadow of OU,OSU and Tulsa, and want more respect. But, you can't have it both ways.
