Makes perfect sense to me.

The school president announced late last week a vision goal-make WIU a nationally recognized comprehensive university. That won't happen unless all components of the university strive for excellence.

You should have seen the graduation rates for some of the other Mid-Con schools. Much lower in many cases. Didn't see Gateway school rates.

what is the grad rate for the general student-population at WIU. before you go to far down this path you might want to look at this number. The number to compare student-athletes against is that of the institution's general student population. Might find that they are fairly comparable.

According to the same site, Western's student rates are 51%

Most college students do nothing but go to school and live off their parents. Some get a part time job. Athletes have to go to class and spend hours upon hours for their sport.

Why jump on the schools? Can't these kids be held accountable? Can't the parents of the athletes be held accountable? The coach has enough problems trying to win and to keep a paycheck coming in. The last thing he needs is to make sure PLAYER is going to his Principles of Raquetball class.

Also, athletes transfer at an enormous rate in the lower tier sports like soccer, track, cross country, tennis, etc. The rate also doesn't accept the fact that some athletes leave to play professionally in all sports as soon as their eligibility is over and as soon as their playing career is over they will finish school.

Also there are some stupid kids that get in because of sports. There isn't anything you can do if the guy just isn't smart enough but he can hit that 15 foot jumper every time. Sad but true!

There are so many different things that go on that keeps a kid out of the grad rate even though he may eventually graduate.

I think even if the athlete finishes in the summer after 5 years that it doesnt count.

Any opinions on the recruiting and acedemic rule changes?
