Subject: 04/05 Basketball Schedule

Bet you can't guess who's non conference basketball schedule has all of these teams on it, can you? Well.....none other then the Leathernecks of WIU!! Gotta give Coach Thomas credit, he is definitely raising the bar. Only 2 of these games are at home, Evansville, and Loyola. I hope that this is not too big of a mouthful. He has also scheduled 3 other non conference foes, 1 NAIA, and D3, and a new Divison 1 program, Utah Valley State....... The only problem is, if he plans to get 14-15 wins, his team is gonna have to gel like "glue" quickly. I admire the scheduling but I hope the Necks don't get the crap kicked out of themselves early and never recover. Nice to have an MVC and Horizon League school visit the "Hall!" With the ship righted and a'sail, maybe ISU and Bradley will play the Necks in the future too! Iowa, UCLA, and Notre Dame must be money games! I wonder what the take is? Oh well, it should be very interesting!

ps. I posted this same message on the Peoria Journal Star college board site. It should be very interesting to see what all the ISU and Bradley fans think!!!

Overall, I am impressed with the schedule. I give it an 8/10 (not a 10 because of the NAIA and D3 on the schedule) Here are some tidbits to think about:

1. Could WIU get a big name game @ the Hall at somepoint? I have heard a possible match vs. UNLV.

2. Will Coach Thomas be able to equal or surpass this year's recruiting class in the future? I would like to see at least 1 post player similar to Fernando Coleneze (spelling?; 6'10. 250, good shooter, reb.)

3. Will WIU finally get the student body to attend games?

I think it is a very good schedule. I hear the St. Louis U. game was cancelled as a SLU assistant dropped the ball on the date. This team has a solid chance at 17 wins. What a turnaround!
