The current plan has renovation getting started around August 1. The plans have been modified and cut back somewhat from the original layout. It still will be a classy D-I baseball facility when it's finished. Seating should be around 450. New pressbox with TV and radio cubicles are in the works. It will be handicap accessible similar to the ramp set up at Mary Ellen McKee. Everything should be finalized in the next couple of weeks (barring unforeseen problems) allowing the construction do get underway before school starts. Plans are to have it ready by the time baseball season rolls around next spring. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather cooperates as well.

VanAlstine only builds things that have class. I really like what he is doing. Maybe if they will release the funds for the design of the Performing Arts Center we can get on with the rehab of Hanson Field. He is really spreading around the bucks, soccer will follow baseball I am sure. Time to get the momentum building again. I still like what is going on in baseball, but maybe Hyman should talk less and carry a big stick.....

I will be down to WIU next Thursday and Friday for my daughters registration visit. Am looking forward to chatting with a few coaches if they are around.

Have you seen any of the new basketball players, is the football team working out together and ready to turn it back around?

Haven't seen any of the new guys as of yet. All of them are on campus with the exception of Chris Gonzalez who I believe is home in Chicago taking a summer class. He is evidently 100% healthy and ready to go. There is a nightly scrimmage with some of the players during a portion of the week which I understand has been very competitive and physical.

I guess I should have stated that it is the basketball team that is scrimmaging for those of you who weren't sure what I was talking about. Not much being said about football right now...Not sure if that's good or bad.
