Subject: Any ideas on Hanson Renovations?

Anyone have any insight as to the improvements to Hanson Field? I already know about a press box, offices & and seating but are they going to build new structures or just modify the current? I believe new seating structures on both sides that actually match
and are concrete and brick would be preferable and new, larger goalpost seating is a plus. One of the appealing things about Hanson is the bowl shape with the grass berms but realistically, do we see the end berm near the union actually be used for seating much? I have not in my 16 years of following the NECKS, and I wish they would put larger seating at the endzone there or another secondary scoreboard along the top of that berm. It would be nice to see all of the link fencing replaces with brick and iron fencing like the new main entrance, that would be really classy and help separate the field from the housing that is behind the east stands. All WIU has to look at is for example, ISU's stadium and try not to imitate it, it is nothing but an aluminum skeleton and is not welcoming at all, even WIU's rotting east bleachers are nicer. Anyways, I have big ideas for the place but nobody asked me my opinion as a loyal alumni and diehard fan, so I want to know what they have planned.

I am also impatiently waiting to see the plans for Hanson field! I know they have been in the works for some time and I also know they have already some monies lined up/donors to get the drive going. I have many fond memories of games and experiences at Hanson. I did see the hillside covered with people a number of times during my collegiate days. Of course that was in the early 70's. I agree with more endzone seating and I am wondering whether the structure on the west side can support what they have planned. The east side bleachers were put in for Western's first home game of the 1971 season and thats where and when I got my first taste of Leatherneck football under the lights. I definitely know that Mortier (VP) and VanAlstine (AD) have their act together and are not going to do this half assed. I am excited about this even though I will probably have to open my wallet for a small donation. Always say, if I won the lottery I know just where my donation would go. Hanson Field!!!

ps Starter, don't worry, I am sure we are all still out there. A little more than a week for the start and that should provide us all with plenty to talk, question, and spout about.
