Your description of these uniforms are not as I heard from Athletic Dept. They are getting rid of the old gold which is an actual WIU color and replacing it with the yellow gold. This is my biggest complaint, ok, the uniforms are changing from a familiar look but what really irks me is the abolishment of one of WIU's school colors in favor of YELLOW? Baseball and basketball have done it already and in my opinion it looks clown-ish, I have always loved the dark purple and old gold look.

The description you lay out of the uni's if true sound pretty cool even if the style has changed. I do not think they will look as good with the yellow instead of old-vegas gold.

I would like the new uniforms to be placed on the WIU football site. Other schools have done this when new uniforms were selected.Maybe someone from WIU who looks at this forum could pass this request on.I guess the helmets will remain the same. I hope so, I bought one of the mini helmets and would hate to see it outdated so soon.

Hoping Western returns to glory this coming year!

Something else that could be interesting, is if the AD would have a periodic link for a Q&A session. This is done at several Big Twelve schools, and could be a good outreach for fans and create additional interst in WIU athletics.

One last thing, regarding the spring football game. Many schools have Family Fest activities around the game to draw interest. BBQ cookoffs, local agencies with kids games etc.Seems this could enhance the spring game and bring more people out to watch. Even if other athletic teams are in action that day, it would help their exposure too.The game by itself, just isn't a big draw on a spring day.Add some entertainment, and people will come.

Additionally, I was wondering why the Western Athletic Club isn't promoted more. I looked on the athletic site, and had a difficult time locating it.Seems it is mostly geared for the locals in Macomb. I don't recall receiving much-if any - literature about the group for some time. I did belong to the Leatherneck Club years ago, and it seemed to reach out beyond the locals. I don't even know if women's athletics is a part of the WAC fund-raising effort.Yes, I know about the auction, but again that is somewhat limiting.

I received information regarding the Wac Golf outings this summer. I went to a couple many years ago and for some reason didn't feel real comfortable because I 1)Didn't really know anybody 2) Had not been an athlete at WIU and so (see 1)) It probably was just me although I am usually pretty good at shaking hands and saying hello. Are there enough of us in the burbs and else where to get something going???

Ps. I have been teaching at the same high school for the past 31 years. Last year when I walked in to begin my 30th year I asked myself what that gave me the right to do. Some people think 30 years should allow them to do as they always have done. I think that should give you the confidence to step outside the box and try something new and different. My point: Maybe its time for the athletic department to step outside the box of Macomb!
