89rabbit- Please keep in mind there is still a lot of frustration felt by some about the whole Mid-Con situation. I have said on other posts that both of the Dakota schools would be good for the conference. If those trips to Louisiana and Utah could be avoided,a lot of time and money could be saved.I'm not a big fan of letting IPFW in, but there isn't any choice now.I'm sure the Dakota schools will be invited, and I look forward to seeing them play sometime in Macomb.
Being from Fort Wayne, I am glad IPFW might have the opportunity to join the mid-con. The athletic dept. budget has grown substantially during its short time in Division 1. Just this past year, a 5 million dollar gift was given to the the athletic department. (4 million for athletic scholarships and 1 million for an indoor track) I think that the athletic department needed time to build up its resources and has done that. I feel that the teams will be very competitive in the mid-con. (and certainly be very short trips for Oakland and IUPUI.)
It seems like many have mentioned IPFW, S.D. St., N.D. St., Texas-PA, and UV ST. Has anyone heard anything about non-football playing schools from the Sun Belt possibly being prospective candidates for the mid-con? I had heard this particularly concerning UALR.
