Subject: Advice for 17 year old hoping to cross Atlantic

Hello everybody,
My name is Malkolm Boothroyd, I'm a 17 year old from Canada's Yukon Territory. I'm planning a fossil fuel free journey from the Yukon to Denmark, to attend the United Nations conference on climate change. Starting in July I'd cycle to the east coast, sail across to Europe, then bike to Copenhagen.
The hard part will be figuring out the sailing portion, I'm hoping to take advantage of your expertise. Here are some questions:
1) I do not have much sailing experience, but would it be possible to get a spot as a deck hand on a cross- Atlantic voyage?
2) How would you go about finding a place as a deck hand, and what training is required?
3) I wouldn't be able to start the sailing leg of the journey before September, is that too late? What is the best season for Atlantic crossings?
