Subject: A sustainable marine head?

We have a home built composting toilet on board the boat but it is something of a bummer as while the toilet wrks very well the fact is on a boat we are not really cmposting in a sustainable way but simply using the composting method as a stop gap means of storing the waste till we can dump it.

This bothers me...

So I keep on looing and coming up with various "cunning plans" but so far come up empty. The other day I came across this film http://boatbits.blogspot.com/2009/06/other-projects-marine-toilet.html and information on the LooWatt system which actually takes waste through the whole composting process and provides power and fuel as the end result. Maybe not workable in a small system for a boat but it does give fuel for thought!
