Well the $850 price tag is something you can avoid by building one yourself (not rocket science at all) as the bits are really just a bucket, a bottle and a toilet seat/bowl that separates the solids from the liquid. But more on that later.

Our toilet easily lasts a month on the solids side but the liquid is a dispose of every other day thing.
