Have only just seen your message -so not sure if your search is still on.
However - I found this on 'Australian National Archives' (on-line)
Allan Stapleton b 6/11/1926 Pontypridd Wales enlisted 1939/1948 -nok -Winifred.

'Winifred Lucy Stapleton -refund of 'assisted passage contribution' 1959.
(did she return to the UK before the 'compulsory' 2 year term? (if one returned before 2yrs they had to pay back the FULL passage fare)

Brisbane Council Cemetery site has this:
Allan George Esdale Stapleton age 86yrs -burial year 2005 -Hemmant.
(no Winifred)

The QLD State Library has an 'Ask Us' librarian service -query form on-line.
They will check their records -including electoral rolls. They should have newspaper death notices for Allan George Esdale Stapleton 2005 -which may reveal any family names.
(they MAY have info on any daughters marriages)
