My Great Grandfather (Heinrich Carl Frederich Overheu), sailed to Adelaide (at age of 17 in 1869) with his Uncle (G.R Rischbieth / (or Reichbieth) on the 'Beltana'.
Rischbieth was engaged in the rag-trade and opened a business in Adelaide where HCF Overheu was apprenticed (he trained in drapery with his Uncle).
In the mid 1870's, he was sent to Millicent, where Reichbieths (alternate spelling?? in records) opened a branch - HCF later took over the shop and engaged in drapery and farming at Millicent, South Australia, for 20 years. In 1879 HCF Overheu married Mathilde Louise Wehl (daughter of Dr. Edward Whel, Millicent / Mt Gambier) and niece to Ferinand von Mueller (First Government Botanist in Victoria).
I have considerable information about HCF Overheu, but I want to find out more about the connection to his Uncle and confirm whether G.R Rischbieth opened a store in Millicent, and also details regarding the Australian ancestry of G.R. Rischbieth (e.g. BD&M, etc).
Not sure what to expect. Its probably not a complicated search for a South Aussie. Thanks for listening in anyway!
