Re your query on Richard Betts. The Richard Betts I have was Richard Henry Betts born 1797 Teston, Kent, England and died 22 June 1889. He married 1. Elizabeth Morrow who was born 1803, and died 9 June 1830. They arrived in WA on the ship "Rockingham" with 4 children, one being an infant being born on the 4 month voyage out. As they were coming ashore the little boat capsized in rough surf and all were thrown into the water. Elizabeth died of the wetting and exposure and dysentery. Their son John died on the 8th July 1830. Richard married 2. Elizabeth Nixon, a widow from Ireland when she arrived in WA 28 December 1831 on the "Egyptian." 16 May 1837, and they had 2 children born in the colony. First lot of children were 1. Charles 2. Susan 3. Richard 4. John. Second lot of children were 1. James 2. John.
