I was browsing the message board and saw your request re McNeill family. I was in the library yesterday and had a look for information.

I have been doing free research for people all around the world for the last 10 years and have become totally addicted!! John McNeill arrived in South Australia by 1862. He resided at Coonatto, Glencoe,& Millicent. His Religion is recorded as Roman Catholic.
John married Jane McBride.

I was running a bit out of time when I was in the library, but I am forwarding what I did find, and will try to find other information next time I go back to the libary (I am usually there at least one day a week, sometimes two.

CHILDREN BORN SOUTH AUSTRALIA TO JOHN McNEILL & JANE McBRIDE

1. Ann Ellen born 30th August 1879 place of birth not recorded, District Gre. reference book 227 page 240

2. Malcolm born 23rd May 1870 Mayura District Gre. reference book 83 page 88

3. Bridget born 19th January 1873 Millicent, District Gre. reference book 117 page 272

I also found records of other children born to John & Jane

Peter born 1862, John born 1867, Michael born 1871, Rachel aged 1873, ARchibald Joseph born 1875, and a child whose Christian name is not recorded, in 1877.

DEATHS.

John aged 64 years, of near Millicent died 12th June 1882 at near Millicent, Informant not recorded, District Gre. reference book 129 page 479

Michael aged 47 years, of Port Adelaide, District Port Adelaide died 25th November 1914 at Port Adelaide, Informant not recorded, District Adelaide reference book 389 page 101

I am quite happy to look up other information, particularly shipping arrival. I can also look up the marriages of children etc. etc. etc.

I'm sending this to you now as it is what I have found, but after a trip to the library within the next week or so, I will forward other information which I expect to find.
