Subject: My new adventure motorcycle travel book is about to be released

Hi, my name is Sam Manicom and I'd like to let your members know about the launch of my new adventure motorcycle travel book - 'Distant Suns' . I hope you don’t mind me contacting you this way and that you aren’t going to send me straight to the spam bin.

As background, I’d planned a year riding through Africa but I had such a stunning time the trip turned into an eight year RTW trip covering 200,000 miles. My books came about because I'd been freelancing tales of the road in bike mags, and readers were writing in asking when I was going to do a book. At the time I'd no intention of doing one - I'd set off on the road for an adventure only. Yeah well, mad things kept on happening and to my amazement my first book, Into Africa, (A great adventure and a really enjoyable read – Johnnie Walker) sold really well. Nice to be able to share the fun!!! And also, it’s great to have the chance to be a bit of a bad influence : )

When that book was liked I wrote my second book, Under Asian Skies, (a unique and wonderful adventure – Ted Simon) and well, no one is throwing rotten tomatoes at me. So, I've written the third book.

The new book is called Distant Suns and takes you on a three year adventure through Southern Africa, South and Central America. This time I'm travelling with my partner who I met on the road in New Zealand - she rides her own bike and set off into Africa with even less experience than I had. With two of us at it, the adventures happened fast and furiously.

There's loads more info on the book website which is www.sam-manicom.com but as a taster, Birgit saves my life when my bike is about to blow up and I've not noticed! She rides her first dirt road ever, in Africa, in the dark. Not planned that way of course but, well, life happens eh. We get totally conned by an Argentinean wide boy in South Africa, we end up with a really surprising way of getting across the ocean from South Africa to South America, and then what was that about being medivac'd from the Chilean rain forest?

In Distant Suns you’ll find stunning roads and magnificent scenery. You’ll find disaster, escape from death (really) and tales of incredible luck – both good and bad. It’s life on the road and why we do it.

But the other reason I wanted to contact everyone was to let them know about the book launch. It's happening at 'Ace Cafe-London' on Saturday 1st November from 2-7pm. All sorts of stuff will be going on including Steve McGill. This man has magic fingers on an acoustic guitar and has a great voice. He's going to be playing sets from his brand new album as we go through the afternoon.

It'd be brilliant to see your club riders there.

The next book signings will be at CW Motorcycles in Dorchester on the 22nd November, the International Motorcycle Show at the NEC at the end of November - start of December, and then at the London and Scottish Motorcycle shows in the spring.

Club members can also get signed copies from the book website – they just need to ask.

Well, I hope you don't mind me contacting you like this, and can find a way to let your members know the news.
Thanks for your time.
Cheers,
Sam
