Mark, I think you know as will as I that getting drawn for a permit will be no different than it is now. It depends on the hunts you put in for. If you put in for the more desirable hunts than your chances are not going to be as good. But with the gaming stopped and the hunts being split out, you will have a better chance than now. Yes hunters will lose opportunities, but how many are losing opportunities now because of the gaming and hording?

I think once the gaming is stopped the FWC will be able to better adjust the quotas for all WMAs and hopefully due away with quotas at some WMAs. Stopping the gaming is just the first step to a long term solution. Not all of the problems with public hunting can be addressed though the quota system. The quota system should be used to distribute hunts fairly.

This is not true. I don't like to see the lost hunting opportunities that we have under the current system. As you have stated some hunts see 50% no shows. If the current system is so great why is this happening? With this high of no show rate it doesn't seem like transferable permits are working. This is why I like the buddy permit. I see the potential to full alot of the no shows with buddy permits. Will this work, I don't know, but I'm willing to give it a shot, because what we have now is not working for most hunters.

You talk about the UHF having to give all hunters a fair shake, but yet you support transferable permits which is the cause for most of the corruption that is causing most hunter not to get a fair shake. You keep saying we are not fixing the present system, but thats exactly whats being done. The biggest problem with the current system are transferable permits. The skakeholders have compromised and kept them in for the secound and third round permits. So you will still be able to go sit at a WMA and have someone give you a permit. Will it be for the best hunts, probably not, but you still have that opportunity.

Mark, since you want tell me what the UHF is doing or supports I can only assume. And you know what they say about assuming.

Why should we have to come up with clever ways at each WMA to stop what transferable permits are causing. All this does is cut down on some of the abuse at some WMAs that have manned checked stations and compliciate the regs. On some WMAs we now have one deer per quota, one deer per hunter, one quota permit per person, per hunt....this just to fix what transferable permits are causing so you can have a chance at someone giving you a permit.
