“Do I try to track down the agent and talk to him?” Michael appeared out of the darkness not far from Nikita’s tent after Walter slipped out of it. He had brought Nikita to her tent, her body almost boneless from just crying. Walter learned nothing but that she had a tremendous amount of pain and that she really needed to cry. He had to wonder if all the tears were just about what was going on with Jurgen or if it was just from building up over months and months. Walter figured that Nikita didn’t cry easily.

“That would only serve to leave her alone here with Jurgen,” Walter sighed heavily. “And I think it would put more space between you and her.”

“We are miles apart, Walter,” Michael shook his head as he didn’t think he could get any further away from Nikita. She was further away from him now than when she had arrived at the camp.

“She would have left the camp, Mickey,” Walter pointed out gently as he looked towards the tent. “She is going to sleep tonight.”

“Doesn’t mean I can’t be out here,” Michael stubbornly declared as he looked at the tent. “Are we sure that Jurgen didn’t…” Michael dropped off the sentence because he couldn’t even say the words.

“This is more than what happened between her and Jurgen,” Walter spoke as he rolled his shoulders back and looked towards the tent. “Mickey… this may not be pretty at all.”

Michael sat on the boulder and rubbed his head. “I want to fire that man. He triggered this being worse. I was getting somewhere.”

“You’ll get back there if you don’t do anything too rash,” Walter warned as he looked at Michael. Walter was tired and just wanted to get back to his tent and sleep. He had asked Nikita if he could take her to his house and it was a no go. She said she just wanted to get back to her tent. That was all that Walter could do. He really didn’t see Nikita being back in her tent as being a good thing, but it was her wishes.

Michael hated what Walter was saying. Michael wanted to spectacularly fire Jurgen. Now that he had even more reason to do it, Michael didn’t want to wait for him to do more damage. What he was doing to Nikita and how some of the other workers were eating it up was just making Jurgen’s already swollen ego even larger. Jurgen didn’t own the camp. He wasn’t in charge. Michael would easily still make money without Jurgen. Not as many girls came for the swimming sessions as he claimed.

“Have you talked to Madeline about this? Maybe she can talk to Nikita,” Walter inquired and but flinched when Michael rolled his eyes. “I think woman to woman may be good.”

“My sister is in wedding lust… She isn’t any good in this situation. Her mind is on Paul and marrying him,” Michael explained as he shook his head from side to side. In fact Michael hoped that Madeline stayed away from Nikita. He could only see Madeline’s happiness making Nikita more miserable.

Swallowing hard, Michael realized that maybe the best thing would be for Nikita to leave. It wasn’t going to get easier in this fashion. She didn’t let anyone into anything and she wasn’t even doing the things that she liked to do, such as horseback riding, because Jurgen was practically shadowing her.

“Is he out here tonight?” Walter asked as he looked around and Michael shook his head. “He met up with one of the sales representatives for where we get the milk… I’m sure that the person next to his room is requesting to be moved as soon as possible.”

“He is a pig,” Walter shook his head and glanced at the table. “I have a feeling that there was nothing that mutually attracted them together. Nikita doesn’t seem like the type to stay in pain. She goes away from it.”

“Until she starts facing it… I’m going to be here every night watching this tent…” Michael rasped as he glanced down to his watch and programmed it to read. “I got this, Walter… you can go to your tent.”

“I may be tired… but I can help guard tonight too. She trusted me to do that for her,” Walter announced as he settled on the other side of the boulder.

And for the rest of the night, Michael and Walter watched the tent and tried to silently figure out what was going on.
