Mick walked into the office and looked around. He had heard that Birkoff was working in this building and that Michael had bought it. It was probably a good thing for Michael to do. He needed to establish himself away from MJS for now. He was afraid to get involved with MJS because he was still trying to figure out his memories. Being involved there means that he would have found things out in a manner that he didn’t want to learn them.

“Michael?” Mick called out as he walked towards a door that was cracked open and pushed it. Inside, he saw Nikita and Michael sitting there on some fold out chairs. Mick leaned in. “Am I early?”

“No,” Michael shook his head as he stood up and crossed the length of the very bare room. “We were waiting for some furniture to arrive but the delivery service is running late.”

“Are you building an office here?” Mick asked and Michael shook his head as Nikita smiled at Mick. “Sit down, Mick.”

Mick stood there, watching as Michael closed the door. “I feel like I’m in the principal’s office… and I know that I didn’t do anything.”

Both Michael and Nikita chuckled and Mick continued to know that something was up. “Enough with the games… I thought there was something important to go over right now.”

“There is,” Nikita nodded her head as she reached out for Michael’s hand and pulled Michael to his chair. Mick, hating to be feeling out of place, finally sat down. “Michael has an offer for you.”

“An offer?”

“Yes,” Michael replied as he nodded his head. He took a moment and looked around the room. “Do you think this is enough room to start out as a place for your own practice?”

Mick leaned forward as he was sure that he was hearing things wrong. He wasn’t sure what he was going to do next. He had thought about his own place, but Mick wasn’t sure if he was ready to get back to having regular clients. “Ah, what?”

“I bought this building thinking it would be great place for those of you who are looking to restart their careers or take different paths in their career a place to start,” Michael revealed and Mick smiled. It was a thoughtful gesture. “Michael, it’s too much.”

“Mick, I think you should think about it,” Nikita chimed in and Mick looked at her. “How are you involved with this?”

“I didn’t tell her about it,” Michael admitted bluntly as he took Nikita’s hand. “I know that it was a mistake. It is something really small in the grand scope of things that we are dealing with… and Nikita called me out on it. So now she is a partner in this.”

“It sounds like I’ve missed a lot,” Mick stammered as he was just stunned with what he was hearing right now.

Nikita nodded her head up and down. “I know that you are still trying to figure things out. But I think it’s getting hard for us to figure out where to meet. Sometimes we say that it is going to be the condo… once we went back to Walter’s… once we met for coffee… you know that isn’t the type of setting that I need right now.”

Mick looked around and shook his head. This was much bigger than Madeline’s office. “This can be your office… I can come to you.”

“What about when you start helping others?” Nikita pushed as she knew Mick now. Now that she knew that he was a therapist, things made sense to her. She thought that he was just a very intuitive man while being a secretary for Madeline, but Nikita wondered how many people Mick unofficially helped in that capacity. “You need to help others.”

“This is too big…”

“We knew that it looked big. I ordered some furniture to try to make it not look so vacant… but it didn’t get here,” Michael explained and Mick rolled his head back. “What else is going on in this building?”

Nikita looked at Michael. They had a similar meeting with Jurgen this morning on the other side of this floor and the kind doctor had almost passed out. His space was much larger because he was going to need some examination rooms, space for equipment and samples, a private office, and space for nurses. But it was all there, ready to go. He hugged Michael fiercely and almost cried when Nikita hugged him. Jurgen had been trying to deny that he wanted to his own office because he knew how expensive it would be to start one.

“Jurgen is going to be sharing this floor with you. He is in the East Wing,” Nikita revealed and Mick smiled. He liked Jurgen a lot and they shared a lot with each other. Maybe Mick would get some referrals with Jurgen opening up an office. It was unknown how many patients that Jurgen had worked with in the ER would come to him as he opened up his own office, but it was possible he would get some.

“Kate is going to be opening up her own physical therapy center upstairs. Don’t worry because Michael had everything sound proofed,” Nikita added and Mick laughed. “It’s like a building that has everyone from Walter’s house in it.”

Michael nodded his head slightly up and down. “Not everyone… but Birkoff is on the top floor working on some things for me.”

Mick was nervous about that. There was something that Michael was keeping from him, but he wasn’t going to push right now. “I can see why Nikita called you out on this.”

“I was doing it because of her… I just never had to tell someone what I was doing when I was doing it… I’m used to action first,” Michael turned slightly read with knowing that he was wrong.

“And Michael isn’t completely innocent in keeping things private,” Nikita pulled her arms across her chest. “This one was easy for him once he knew that I knew.”

Mick sighed as he could tell that there was something on Nikita’s mind and that it was bothering her that she was not returning in telling Michael something that she was holding on to. “If you can’t talk about something right now, Nikita…. There is a reason.”

Nikita nodded her head up and down and sighed. “I’m not sleeping well, Mick. Nightmares and such.”

“They aren’t vivid,” Michael commented as he reached out and rubbed Nikita’s shoulders. “I’m not hearing anything when she is having them. Kita isn’t acting out in them.”

“Sometimes those are scarier,” Mick quietly whispered as he pulled his chair closer to Nikita. “I don’t want to taint this with this discussion, Nikita. Maybe we can try something later.”

Nikita nodded her head up and down. “I need to do something, Mick… I need to sleep.”

“And without getting drugs to do that,” Michael commented and Mick couldn’t agree more with that statement. “One thing at a time… and maybe after lunch?”

“We were thinking pizza. There is a small shop down the street….” Nikita mentioned and Mick laughed. It felt like he had already moved into this building.
