Keith, the stage manager, stands over just beyond the piano. Keith pretty much runs the taping session as far as the cast is concerned. He has a headset that connects him to Dan Patterson and the director who are not actually in the studio for the taping itself. (They watch via monitors from a trailer outside the building that serves as their control booth.) So Keith serves as the liason between the cast and the director.

Why Ryan looks at Keith so often, I don't know. My guess is that he simply wants to know how things are going with the taping.

Occasionally, Keith shows up in the episodes when Ryan runs into the audience.
