Everyone has made good points here . . and I'd like to throw in my 2 cents worth too!

Not only is it dangerous . . but most performers and venues are afraid that the pics will end up being used to make money for the photographer. Folks will sell them, pop them up on eBay, etc.

Contrary to popular belief, it is EXTREMELY dangerous to the performers to have the flashes going off. Keep that in mind -- even if a performer says they don't mind the flash (Colin told me once that he doesn't really mind theflashes but they are very "startling" to him at times) -- please don't take pics! Another thing -- It is extra dangerous to folks who wear glasses (Greg!!) . .. please keep that in mind.

Someone mentioned (Bix?) that the flash doesnt even work more than 10 or 15 feet away . . . that's true! Get faster speed film and not use the flash if ya wanna take pics but be prepared that the venue may ask you to stop.

Now . . having said all that . . . I find that most venues don't mind if you take pics during curtain call . . .the guys are far enough upstage to not risk taking a tumble off the edge of the stage.

Good luck and have fun in Montreal!

M
