Subject: January 10 numbers for WL and DCS according to ABC...

Found this among the press releases. It's from the one titled Weekly Rating Report (or something close to that). They apparently were quite impressed with the numbers that WL and DCS put up. Could it have been "the Springer factor"? Read and see what they said...

Friday
Against midseason series premieres on NBC and CBS, ABC saw its strongest young adult deliveries with its regular lineup on Friday night since the November Sweep - best Friday non-sports Adult 18-34 rating (2.4/8) since 11/1/02 and best Adult 18-49 rating (2.9/9) since 11/22/02. The Net took second on the night on both Nielsen measures.

"America's Funniest Home Videos" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
"America's Funniest Home Videos" placed a solid second in its hour among Adults 18-49 (3.5/11), Adults 18-34 (2.7/10), just one-tenth of a ratings point behind the series debut of NBC's "Mister Sterling" in both adult demos. The video clip show won the hour among Teens 12-17 (2.5/11) and Kids 2-11 (2.3/8).

* "America's Funniest Home Videos" posted its second-highest Adult 18-49 rating since returning to ABC's schedule nearly 1-1/2 years ago - "AFV" returned to ABC's Friday night line-up on July 20, 2001.

"Whose Line is it Anyway?" (9:00- 9:30 p.m.)
"Whose Line is it Anyway?" won its half-hour among Adults 18-49 (3.0/9) and Adults 18-34 (3.0/10), with its best delivery of this season on both measures.

* Excluding last Friday's "Fiesta Bowl" telecast, "Whose Line" produced ABC's highest Adult 18-34 rating in the time period since the end of October - since 10/25/02. In fact, the Drew Carey hosted improv comedy gave the Net its second-strongest Adult 18-34 performance with entertainment programming in the half-hour in nearly 1-year - since 2/1/02. It also garnered ABC's best non-sports Adult 18-49 delivery in the slot since November (11/22/02).

"Drew Carey" (9:30- 10:00 p.m.)
Holding on to nearly all of its young adult lead-in, "Drew Carey" won its half-hour among Adults 18-34 (2.8/9) and earned second among Adults 18-49 (2.7/8). Like its lead-in, "Drew" notched its highest ratings of the season on both counts.

* "Drew Carey" pulled ABC's top non-sports Adult 18-34 rating in the half-hour since October (since 10/25/02) and its second-highest number in that demo since last May (since 5/24/02).

"20/20" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
In the final hour of the night, ABC's "20/20" outdrew CBS' series debut of "Queens Supreme" by 7% in Total Viewers (8.7 million vs. 8.1 million). The ABC newsmagazine also bested the CBS drama premiere by 19% among Women 18-49 (3.1/9 vs. 2.6/8).

Any comments?
