Being an American -- I almost typed "Merkin," but I think we covered that ground before -- I am ignorant of Canadian Smarties. When Smarties were first mentioned here, I assumed they were those pastel, hard, chalky candies (which, I hate to admit, I end up eating when all the "good" Halloween candy is gone). I'd be interested in trying Canadian Smarties and doing my own taste-test.

As for Tootsie Rolls... well, I rate those below Smarties... American Smarties. And yet, candy pig that I am, if there's nothing left, I'll eat those little brown -- dare I say it? -- turds.
