You Want

You want me to see
the world all around
where all seems so dark
with the pain and tears
yes I can see clear
this reality

You want me to look
in eyes filled with hurt
red swollen and sore
from all that's endured
while my heart weeps blood
this reality

You want me to know
of death everywhere
bodies in the streets
young lives cut so short
from bullets that tare
this reality

You want me to gaze
at staving and strife
babies sunken eyes
in this world we live
with no love of life
this reality

You want me to write
of this that I see
from my open eyes
and ears I can hear
all that's happening
in reality

You want me to say
all that is darkness
when I write of light
giving little dreams
that some may escape
in fantasy
