Congratulations to all of the Bracken dancers for a great day today at Rita O'Shea's feis! Ceili placed 4th, Maggie received 2 1st places at her first feis, Kyanna placed 1, 2, 3. Happy New Year Everyone!

Just a reminder for our Bracken winter party on Saturday January 10th at the Elks Club in Newburyport from 6-10 pm. Admission is free, and dinner is potluck so please sign up on the food sign-up sheet that is posted in the studio hallway. We'll have DJ music, great food, dancing, and a 50-50 raffle. Hope to see everyone there!

Also we are having a booster group meeting this Thursday January 8th to finalize party details and talk about upcoming events for the spring. How about meeting at Honey Dew at 6:30 after dropping the dancers off at the studio for class?

Thanks to all who came to the booster group meeting last night!

Be sure to save these dates:

January 10th-- Winter party at the Elks, 6-10 pm. Potluck, dancing, 50-50 raffle. Sign-up sheets for food will be posted in the studio shortly.

February 14th-- Parents' night out! We will provide childcare, a movie, pizza, and more at the studio for young dancers and siblings while parents enjoy a Valentine date! Details to follow.

Subject: Book Collection

Hey everyone!

I am involved in a club at Exeter High School called Schools for Schools. This group is associated with the program Invisble Children. We are sponsoring a book drive to support the Keyo Secondary School (KSS) in Northern Uganda, Africa. This school has suffered tremendous losses due to the fact that it was in the middle of a rebel war zone. The books are sold through an agency that then doantes the proceeds to KSS. The money is used to purchase the proper school books for the KSS students. Only books with an ISBN can be collected for this fundraiser (the number is usually found on the back cover of the book).

There will be a collection box in the sudio starting Friday December 5th.

I am confident that the Bracken families will be able to help! I really appreciate everyones's effort!

Parade will begin at 2pm. Please have all dancers at Ipswich High School by 1:15pm. You may pick up your child at the end of the parade route (Center of Ipswich). Parade lenghth is about one mile.

Just checking to see if anyone else is going to this Feis, and/or if you've received your Competitor Numbers in the mail? We sent a SASE, and haven't seen anything yet. There is no schedule or Competitor list up, either, so there is no way of knowing if she made the cut-off. Oh, and no check cashed yet, either.

I'd just like to know so we can make our plans for the day....

Hi. My daughter has been out of step dancing for the past year and we have a few items, if anyone is interested. There are 3 pairs of shoes: hard shoes size 2 1/2 , and soft shoes size 13 and 2. We also have a size 8 school dress.It's the one with the logo across the chest and the lace collar. I think it was the "middle" style, if I remember. I think we paid about $130. or so. The shawl and headband are with it. I don't know if you have any day set up where you are buying/selling items or if they can be left at the school for anyone to see? I'd be happy to hear from someone. Thanks!

Thanks to those who were able to attend our first booster group meeting of the year. For those who couldn't make it, the minutes will be posted on our bulletin board at the studio.

We'll be starting our Yankee Candle fundraiser on October 6th. It will run for two weeks, and we encourage every Bracken family to participate--small and large orders are welcome! The catalog is really good this year, with lots of ideas for holiday gifts and decorations.

Also, we'll be having our annual Christmas party again in December-- we'll post the date as soon as we can confirm it with the Elks club.

Next meeting is Tuesday, October 21st at 7pm.

Our first Bracken Booster Group meeting will be at the studio on Tuesday, September 23rd at 7 pm. Please feel free to attend, even if you haven't joined yet and just want to see what it's like.

Greetings from California. My daughter danced for Tom out here for three years but quit earlier this summer and I am left with two school dresses. These dresses are both beautiful and in excellent condition with no odor or stains. The measurements follow:

The first one: Chest 31 1/2"; Sleeve length 20 1/2"; bodice length 14"; waist 29"; skirt length 17". Comes with headpiece, cape, hand crocheted collar, and bloomers. Price $300

The second one: Chest 33"; sleeve length 24"; waist 27"; bodice length 14"; skirt length 16". Comes with headpiece, cape, hand croched collar, stay-dry lining in the bodice, air vents under cape, and bloomers. Price $550.

For those who are interested in attending the Torrington (CT)feis, I finally found the syllabus this morning. If you go to the Peter Smith web site and click directly on Torrington Feis, it will take you directly to their feis page. There is a syllabus, entry form, and estimated schedule.

This year's feis is two days, October 11th & 12th. It is in a new location (Burlington, CT). Saturday is some prelims and all grade solos (AB,Nov&PW). Sunday is some prelims and all opens.

We will be holding a shoe sale and uniform sale in the next week and before classes start. If you have shoes to sell, please bring them to the studio in a bag with your name and price on it. Most gently used soft shoes go for 20 to 25 and hard shoes 50 to 75, depending on the wear. If you have a question on how much to charge, please email me.

Dancers will be performing at Maudsley Park as part of their summer series. John, a World Champion and our new teacher will also be dancing and playing keyboard. Pack a picnic and enjoy the show. I believe their is cake and ice cream (for a small fee) as well.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for making Paige, my husband and myself feel so welcome on Friday evening. Paige can hardly wait to start dancing again. We look forward to many great times with the school.

Hi Everyone
I'm looking for a dress for another girl at my old school :) I think there might be a few out there so if you could help out that would be great. She wears a girl's size 12, is 4'10 and very slender. She dances at the novice/prizewinner level. Some other measurements are;
Waist: 24.5
bust: 27.5
neck to waist: 10.5
sleeve: 22
Shoulder to shoulder: 14.5
I will be at the studio on Tuesday night from 6-8 so if you have anything that might work just drop it by and have a price in mind. We can bring it up for her to try on.

It appears that this board has been attacked by "spammers" over the last couple of days. I've had to go in an delete a bunch of useless encyrpted messages! As a result, I've turned on the Captcha functionality. So now when you create a message, you will be required to enter a code before it's posted.
