hey,
I'm 18 and my hair to is thick and it's neither curly or straight. It goes wavy when wet but then when it dries it goes out, thick and straight. I heard that sweeping fringes and going shorter will help. I got long layers into mine a while back and they thinned my hair. Also hairdresser have special scissors to help the back to my be as thick, because they used it on mine and after a day of washing my hair it goes flat at the back. A colour rinse will help flatten it and smooth it down also.
