It is very worrying when Councillors say things like "a win win situation" when his Council wants to build a rubbish tip at the rear of other people's back gardens. It will create so many problems it is difficult to know where to start. We already have to put up with heavy traffic waking us up in the early hours of the morning, running in and out of the quarry, not to mention noise and dust from there. We also have to put up with low flying, heavily laden aircraft taking off from EMA between the hours of 10-30pm until 3 or 4-30 am - are we are now expected to put up with extra light and heavy traffic movements, more noise and smell, flies, rats and goodness knows what else? When the "brand new" Granite Way floods, where will the light traffic go; back onto the old A6. The rubbish tip at Whetstone is so busy at weekends the cars block the road queuing to go in and out. Consequently they have had to resort to traffic lights. This proposed site is so not suitable for this area it's not true. I totally agree with the suggestion that the Industrial site by Wyevale would be perfect, ie excellent approaches and away from residential properties. Is this the first stage to use the quarry as infill, when it becomes unused? We need interested parties to get together and stop this proposal in its tracks NOW!
