Hi Tony
I'm more of the old labour way in that it should be a party representing the middle working class.
The problem with new labour ,I believe is that it is to much "conservative" in its ways ,in that it does not properly represent the working class or normal folk but instead looks after the big corparations, like banks and the rich.
That does not mean Labour as not done some good for people on the poverty line etc with such policies as the national minimum wage but I dont believe it's done enough.
You mentioned the flag pole being broken, what is either government or leicestershire county council (peter osborne) doing for the youth of today.Perhaps it could provide activities such as a youth club ,to occupy them or even provide visable policing (and not pcso's with no powers) to deal with any anti social behaviour in the village, such as underage drinking, dog fouling and others.
I dont pretend to know the solution to these problems but unless we at least try,we will never know if they wont work. This would seem to be common sense, something that is sadly lacking in all of politics at the moment, whatever party you,I or anyone believes in.
Everyone deserves to be heard and express their views and it is this principle view which I hold dear and which made me want to stand as a county councillor in the first place. It is also this that drives me forward in wanting to try again and again (a never say die attitude)to do the best for Mountsorrel/Rothley.Some may not like this attitude and I respect their opinion but no one can say I didn't try my best and thats all I can truly promise.
all the best
justin
