Hi Neil, Thanks for you response... I understand you have health and saftey concerns ref dogs off the lead.
As a reponsible dog owner, who's dog is a rescue, we went to training and socialising classes, which most people undertake. However some dogs can actually be more aggressive when kept on a lead (with other dogs). The more they are around each other the more relaxed and 'socialised' they are. All dogs are capable of biting and yes some dogs do have a bit of 'handbags at dawn'. They are animals afterall. Only last year my dog had to have stitches in his throat because a Rottweiller attacked him. BUT and this is a big but... these events are few and far between.
As for the health and safety that seems to be very high on the agenda.. what about the women of the village who use the park because it's a safe place to walk the dogs. In the last Mountsorrel Post it was reported that a man exposed himself to two girls... the riverside is not a safe place to go alone. The park provides a place where we can walk alone and in groups safely, even when it starts to drop dark, because the top part is lit by the floodlights.
