Hi Neil, I have given much thought to your health and safety concerns. I would like to say that in all the years my family and I have used the park, we have seen cricketers, footballer, baseball players, children, dogs, cats, foxes, other wildlife, vans, cars and bikes all use the park.
We've witnessed cricketers felled by balls, men have, and dies from, heart attacks. Seen fighting break out at a cricket match (so much for a gentlemen's game), handbags at dawn on the football pitch, and heard language far more floral than any I could come up with!
Vans and cars are driven onto the park when children dogs and all others are loose. I've even see children FALL!
We've watched people drop and leave litter, poo, bottles, cans. Found and removed used condoms, used Tampax and drugs parafinallia, even a gazebo was left in the trees once ( and it was two of the dog walkers who cleaned up).
In all these years, and I'm sure for many decades past, everyone has enjoyed and shared the park and it's facilities.
Does the Parish Council have insurance? (incase any disasters do occur)Because everyday we walk we encounter holes for goal posts not covered... if a child fell because of one! The magic leveling of the football pitch is more akin to the surface of the moon than Wembley. What a waste of money and health hazzard that is.
My dog is insured, and a good job too. Twice he's had to have glass removed from his feet..... picked up on the park!
The dog fouling is just one problem. It needs adressing, but don't penalise the members of your Parish who use the facilities properly.
