Subject: This is why the PG has a "religion writer?"

I remember when Ann Rodgers left the P-G that supposedly the bosses stretched the no-new-hire rule to bring in a new reporter who specialized in religious issues. Peter Smith got the job and he was well qualified. That seemed okay but then you see this colossal waste of space.

A shaky premise, the kind of thing loved by far-out academics with warped logic who want to over-analyze. Smith falls for it. It's hard to think Fred Rogers, an ordained minister, would agree with this. How is it even a religion story? Or was it assigned because desperate P-G editors think anything related to Mister Rogers is good click-bait as they struggle to keep their dying paper relevant?
