Do you think he's noticed the same 25 people commenting on his posts say the same things every day?

If crap like that is "the future of journalism," we're all doomed.

99 percent of bloggers would be thrilled to have 25 people commenting everyday.

It's weak for a blog that's on the site of a major metro paper and for a blogger who had a 30 year run as a columnist in the paper, who also gets regular TV appearances.

I check out Smizik's blog every day -- but I've never commented once. So noting that "the same 25 people" comment is no way to judge its value with regard to driving traffic to the site.

In addition to offering commentary and posting interesting stories on the blog, he often breaks news relating to sports TV/radio.

Conversely, I haven't bought a newspaper since about 2003.

So, yeah -- I do agree that you're all doomed, but it's got nothing to do with Smizik's blog.

Not much of an accomplishment, considering the two papers don't cover sports TV/radio.

One of his blog comments suggests that Joe Paterno has fabricated the story about having lung cancer to engender sympathy in the Penn State scandal story.

Even a radio talk show wouldn't allow a comment that stupid.
