Let's set the record straight -- I never gave myself the nickname "Johnny Baseball" or any other nickname. I am not an egomaniac as I think anyone who knows me would tell you.

I'll never bring up Bob Nutting but I can almost the people posting these things about me are the same ones who are friendly to my face. That's the thing about being part of the Pittsburgh media scene, so many people are disingenuous.

While Perotto might not have been wise to publicly criticize the Pirates after working for them a couple of years ago no one seems to dispute that he had good reasons to be upset.

Also, whenever this Pirates Report site comes up -- or whenever any Pirates beat coverage comes up -- other posters invoke his name and bring up his experience with the Nuttings.

What he posted on this thread was far from a flame against the Nuttings or the Pirates.

Get off his case.

This one has been circulating around the Times office since Friday. Not sure if it's Facebook or Twitter, but at some point, he will stop posting things like this. But then again, maybe he won't.

I've been a sports writer since I was 14 and, tonight, for the first time ever, I blew off a game I was supposed to cover. I feel kind of bad about it but, then again, I don't.

You aren't kidding. There's one sick bastard who set up a fake Twitter account that he uses specifically to harass people. Guess he has a lot of time on his hands these days.

He had been attacking Perrotto. Now he's moved on to back stabbing Rocco DeMaro and Mike Vukovcan from Channel 2. He's insane.

The guy made fun of John Perrotto's wife on Twitter for not being able to have children and also said he had pictures of him committing a sex act with her. A real sicko.
