Any thoughts on The Pittsburgh Press, the new P-G online afternoon "paper?"

I don't get it. An electronic product that is laid out like a newspaper, making it difficult to read on even a full-size monitor? And why name it for a paper that's been defunct for 20 years? The readers of that paper are not the people looking for a e-paper now. And -- shades of the death of the afternoon paper -- who wants a product that comes out just once a day at 4:30?

My thought is if the real Pittsburgh Press had stayed in business, news consumers in this city would have been much better off.

I find it clumsy to navigate and short on local content. Reminds me of Trib PM with all the wire content.

I think it's sad. Clearly, it's something dreamed up by someone in marketing, not the newsroom.

I subscribe to the Post Gazette online which I enjoy. When I receive the Press online, I immediately delete it. I don't think it is necessary.

The Press was a better paper but this isn't The Press and I am not sure what purpose it serves. Not much valued content if any. Why bother? I don't anymore.

It's truly ironic in that, if the Blocks didn't kill the original Press, they certainly let it die. Now, after a couple decades or so,they reactivate it online. That is a new dimension of crass...
