Of course it's what they want. It's more proof Calkins is a pitiful, rinky dink chain. BCT gets scooped regularly by a blogger with no journalism training but good instincts. In Uniontown, they figure no one knows the difference. The city and Fayette County are routinely called "Fayettenam" because of the violent crime and corruption. The only way Calkins could deteriorate further would be if they'd sell out to Scaife and even then it wouldn't be much worse.

What Calkins wants is for someone to swoop in and write a big check for all their properties so they can get out of the business. Scaife has made offers to buy the BCT, but they don't want to sell things piecemeal. They want to unload the whole operation, which includes the Herald-Standard, papers in the Philly suburbs and TV stations in the south.
