Subject: Same Block time, same Block channel!

So this editorial runs in today's PG credited to "The Editorial Board."

But wait a second! Look what just happened to run in today's edition of The Blade.

This one obviously came from Block World Headquarters in Toledo and a byline added to look like it came from the PG Editorial Board. I must say it gave me a hearty laugh to hear the Blocks, of all people, take shots at "elites."

hardly the first time that a chain's owners have run a similar editorial across multiple properties, in this case only two. And it's an editorial, not a news story.

Geez, have you never heard of Scaife or the Nuttings?

The Blade editorial does not say "By the Editorial Board." The PG version does. Does that mean the PG Board members were involved? If not, why not say it's the Company heads and be transparent about it?

Dick Scaife's personal op-eds, like his famous pro-Planned Parenthood Trib commentary, always carried his byline. Don't the Block Twins have the guts to own their words?

At a paper like the PG where they are all about diversity, it's odd to appear to be cheering a Republican Presidential candidate widely derided even by many in his own party as expressing and supporting bigotry.

did the editorial specifically have some kind of byline, or was it just followed at the bottom by the boilerplate "this reflects the view of the editorial board"?

And what if the PG editorial board really did originate it, then toledo ran it next with minor localization. That would legitimize a PG credit.

Yes, the PG version was credited "by the editorial board." It is hard to imagine the current EB lineup (Simpson, Norman, Allison) would write something that simple-minded. It's less hard to imagine it came the other direction: from Toledo, home of raging Republican Allan Block. If they had made it clear in presenting it, no one would question it.
