Tell me, what other newspaper would enrich your lives with such unique cultural content?

Do you get that sort of fulfilling material in the Trib? Of course not. Do you get it in the WaPo, NYT or USA Today? Heavens, no!

So everyone, bow your heads to Greg Victor, PG poetry czar, to Editorial Editor John Allison, to Executive Editor and Pulitzer winner David Shribman and most of all, to Editor in Chief John Robinson Block for helping everyone see once and for all the bargain the Post-Gazette really is!

Slightly more than sixty-eight percent of Pittsburghers self-identify as poets. Their definition of poetry is infinitely elastic. Get used to it.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
The P-G is awful,
The Tribune is, too.

Excellent! Concise and quite correct. Maybe you can send it to Mr. Victor (be sure to use one of those JR Block-mandated "courtesy titles"). Should it meet his lofty standards, he'll run it by his elite, local "poetry" committee. If if meets their ivory-tower criteria, your poem might be appreciated by the 125 or so in the PG's fast-declining readership who give a damn about poetry.

That's right, reader. Those 68% of self-identified poets in Pittsburgh are enough to SAVE the P-G from the end days, just as "Gardenin' Doug" Oster will save the Trib, allowing the Burgh to remain a two-newspaper town for the foreseeable future!
