What, deadline pressure?
Indian style just doesn't move it ahead, hardly a salient detail, though it's a good instinct to get detail.
Instead of this:
"A few players sat at midfield Indian-style, in their uniforms, chatting about the win."
Why not:
Eleven players still in uniform sat at midfield in the afterglow of their big win.
Less can be more. But legwork is everything. What were they saying?
And using Indian anything is a rookie mistake -- you write around anything approaching trouble. It is unclear (East Indian? American Indian?), and it is offensive to some Native Americans. It's like using Chinese fire drill or Mexican standoff. Don't do it. Coulda been worse -- at least he didn't say redskin style.
