Subject: Trib roster switch

The new staff portraits at the Trib showed Sue McFarland overseeing both Greensburg and the VND, though she didn't do so hot handling Greensburg alone. What was surprising was the new ME slot in Greensburg is Jim Borden, not longtime City Editor Ruane, s now Deputy ME. Maybe Borden can shake up Greensburg's tired mix of police beat and chamber of commerce style pieces and get some investigative work going again.

So Sue didn't do a great job handling Greensurg why? Because anonymous "you" says so?

Well, "Ed E. Torial," (anonymous), Greensburg Trib coverage aside from police beat is heavy on trumpeting wonderful things at the Westmoreland Museum, (befriended by Scaife), Seton Hill, Excela and related non-profits. Westmoreland Trib local coverage summarizes monthly government meetings and avoids reporting on controversies in some communities, like they don't want to upset anybody.

I don't know if this is Sue's doing or she followed orders from downtown. I do know people in central Westmoreland who dropped the Greensburg Trib because they felt the local news coverage in the much smaller Latrobe Bulletin was better and more complete.

I see the Bulletin in more retailers around Greensburg and they have a few vending machines in the area as well. The refugees of Cabin Hill Drive shouldn't get too complacent about anything.
