well, look at it this way: we homosexual boys have the advantage that you're both MEN. How many guys out there have girlfriends that are totally uncompatible with their personalities. Yet there you have it: marriage, kids, divorces...if the straights can play that game, so can we.

For myself? I would find this scenario really weird. For one, if there is attraction then by definition you're going to have something to say. Talk about the weather if you must, just as long as you can look into his eyes. Also, not agreeing on certain things can provide hours of entertaining bickering, if you keep it all in jest you can get on like a house on fire.
Plus, I'm a libra. I can be whomever I need to be to charm this guy. If I really wanted to, I could blend into a gang of thugs, or a gaggle of lisping queers, it's all the same to me. Nothing in common? I don't think so. I'll fake some interests for as long I want to be with him, and after that I'll just put my fangs back in and hang with the rest of the Vampire Club.
